TG 285 was a lot better tractor with front duals. Tappets need adjusting at 2100 hours if not they will not do another 2000. The tillage tools will depend on how steep your country is. The park brake is dangerous if your not quick on the button when you stall the tractor.
Our hi/lo clutch let go and did quite alot of damage to the transmission. That said it is very rare for this to happen and I would still buy the same tractor again. Happened at 6000 hrs was a faltless tractor till then.If anything does go wrong with the powershift trannys they are way cheaper to fix and part are far more readly available. Good luck
Just looking to upgrade a mid sized tractor this year and have one coming up at an auction. It's a 03 tm 140 has anyone had any experience good or bad with these tractors or know of any weak points on them. This is the only place where you can get unbiased opinions and here the good the bad and the ugly about a particular machine.
Cluth pedal should have 1 inch free play, may have to disconnect cable on modulation valve on l/h rear of tractor to see if cable is smooth operating, pivot tractor all the way to the left, its a pita to get at. Transmission is a wet clutch, on modulation valve there are two test ports and adjustment that can be set per service manual, Scott.

2nd generation-New Holland Gemini 60 series. 3rd generation-New Holland TM I Series(models TM 115, 125,135, 150, 165); the 165 was a longer wheelbase. 4th generation-New Holland TM II/CaseIH MXM (models 120, 130, 140, 155, 175, 190 in both colors)-175 & 190 were longer wheelbase
Think of the New Holland TG series Magnums as a continuation of the old Magnum(71/72/8900 series) chassis....where the engine was bolted directly to the transmission; as opposed to the MX Magnums where the engine was moved up and ahead away from the transmission, and then they used a drobox between the engine/transmission to slow down the engine as well as connect the now-raised engine to the ...
as for the new ones and how they work, i don't really know, depending on the country you are in too, like here the T6000 and T7000 has a couple gearbox options, yet the Puma Short tractor and Puma long tractor (err i dunno proper terms), the ones i have seen had one gearbox in each machine range, and it is the high spec box here, unless you get ...
I'm working for one of our neighbors and was the one running the drill this spring. We were pulling a 40ft New Holland P2080 disk drill and a tow behind New Holland P1050 380bu air cart with a New Holland TJ375. About halfway through seeding the TJ had transmission+hydraulic issues and had to go in to the dealer.
They are very handy, can get into tight spaces etc. Much better than a FWA. Lighter than an industrial loader. Kind of a rough ride. Pretty good in the mud if u get the diff locks. Not much of pulling tractor but your probably buying it for loader work. Visibility of the bucket is far better than a regular tractor. Makes a handy auger tractor too.
