I searched the forum and there are a few mentions of Drees Homes, mostly positive. My wife and I are looking at a neighborhood in Carrollton that is entirely Drees custom homes from 2001-2003. The quality looks very good, and I am under the impression that Drees is a good builder.
We built a home with Drees a few years ago. The stucco is cracking and bowing all over the exterior. I tried to resolve it with Drees, but they said it wasn't "structural" and wasn't covered under the 10-year warranty. My insurance company said it was defective installation and not covered by homeowners (correctly).
Drees seems to have realised this by offering 2 new floorplans but they are still more expensive for a smaller home. As agents have told me the market has shifted down by around $50,000. In CG they used to sell a lot of $400K homes but now $350K which is why Beazer was better placed. Just think about this before you commit. Hope it helped.
Drees rates well with JD Power, BBB and you can search extensively on the web and find very few complaints/problems. We have been renting in the same town while we build and have visited the site almost daily when a lot of activity was going on, usually after the workers were gone and always out of the way.
Drees is definitely going to be a much better built home from a construction standpoint; better materials, etc. Try walking a few homes that have just been framed, and compare. 05-02-2008, 03:54 PM
Doris has sold more Drees homes than anyone else in Austin she knows her stuff for sure. Sounds to me the neighbors in Rough Hollow dodged a bullet thanks to Doris! 07-27-2018, 10:25 PM
The vast majority of buyers do in fact get through it and end up happy in a new home though. If you end up in the minority that doesn't, it's more a reflection of you than the builder. Drees is as good or better than any of the large production builders in Austin. Steev

Drees has such a great reputation, lots of awards etc. Beazer has had a rough time of it lately. All that I know. I'd love some first-hand experience on what the homeowners in the neighborhood think about the quality of the homes, how they have aged (if applicable) and the service they received.
