Bayou La Batre (/ ˌ b aɪ. oʊ l ə ˈ b æ t r i / or locally / ˌ b aɪ l ə ˈ b æ t r i /) is a city [a] in Mobile County, Alabama, United States.It is part of the Mobile metropolitan area.As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,204, [3] down from 2,558 at the 2010 census.
After his death in 1917, it was inherited by his daughter Ethel Burgess Maschmeyer. She bequeathed it to the Mobile Jaycees, for use as their headquarters after her death in 1973. It subsequently was transferred to the University of Mobile to be used as its President's home. In 2000 the mansion was reverted to use as a private residence.

The Bragg–Mitchell Mansion, also known as the Bragg–Mitchell House, is a historic house museum in Mobile, Alabama. It was built in 1855 by Judge John Bragg and is one of the most photographed buildings in the city as well as one of the more popular tourist attractions. [ 4 ]
