Little Church of the West is a wedding chapel on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States, [1] that is listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. Built of redwood, it was intended to be a replica of a typical pioneer town church. It is the oldest building on the Las Vegas Strip.
The old church was replaced by a new memorial church and rectory in 1902 as a gift from Countess Carola de Laugier-Villars and her sister, Mrs. Geraldyn Redmond, in memory of their mother. The new stone church was consecrated on June 28, 1903, by Cardinal Farley. The parish school, also a memorial gift, was established in 1888.
The Little Church's association with the theatre continued in the 1970s, when it hosted the Joseph Jefferson Theatre Company, which gave starts to actors such as Armand Assante, Tom Hulce, and Rhea Perlman. [3] As well as being a guild officer, Sir Rex Harrison was memorialized at the church upon his death in 1990.
