Castle is an American comedy-drama police procedural television series on ABC which was created by Andrew W. Marlowe. Castle becomes intrigued with the lead homicide detective on the case, Kate Beckett, and starts writing his next book with the main character based on her. At the end of the episode, Captain Montgomery informs Beckett that the mayor spoke with him about letting Castle shadow her to research the new character, much to her annoyance.
It is the 17th episode of the second season. The episode was written by Moira Kirland and directed by Bryan Spicer. It aired on March 22, 2010 on ABC. In the episode, Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katić) must team up with the FBI to track down a killer (Dameon Clarke) using one of Castle's books as inspiration.
A chance encounter prompts Castle to start reliving episodes from his missing two months in his dreams. Investigating leads him to encounters with a Russian hitman; a former schoolmate and sometime terrorist; and the secret agent who forcibly recruited him to aid in the latter's defection, then suppressed his memory of those events.
Castle finds the murder weapon, but it is taken out of his hand by a ninja. The investigation leads them to a Mr. Saito, who is affiliated with the yakuza . He is killed and Castle and Beckett would also have been killed, but they are saved by Jade's sister, Saya, the ninja.
The second season was originally renewed with an order of 13 episodes, but a few weeks after the season premiere, on October 20, 2009, ABC ordered a full season increasing the episode count to 24 episodes.
