Strontium fluoride, SrF2, also called strontium difluoride and strontium (II) fluoride, is a fluoride of strontium. It is a brittle white crystalline solid. In nature, it appears as the very rare mineral strontiofluorite. [2][3]
The following chart shows the solubility of various ionic compounds in water at 1 atm pressure and room temperature (approx. 25 °C, 298.15 K). "Soluble" means the ionic compound doesn't precipitate, while "slightly soluble" and "insoluble" mean that a solid will precipitate; "slightly soluble" compounds like calcium sulfate may require heat to precipitate.
The table below provides information on the variation of solubility of different substances (mostly inorganic compounds) in water with temperature, at one atmosphere pressure. Units of solubility are given in grams of substance per 100 millilitres of water (g/ (100 mL)), unless shown otherwise. The substances are listed in alphabetical order.
The mean strontium content of ocean water is 8 mg/L. [50] [51] At a concentration between 82 and 90 μmol/L of strontium, the concentration is considerably lower than the calcium concentration, which is normally between 9.6 and 11.6 mmol/L. [52] [53] It is nevertheless much higher than that of barium, 13 μg/L. [11]
Fluoridation does not affect the appearance, taste or smell of drinking water. [ 1 ] Water fluoridation is the addition of fluoride to a public water supply to reduce tooth decay. Fluoridated water contains fluoride at a level that is effective for preventing cavities; this can occur naturally or by adding fluoride. [ 2 ]
HF is miscible with water (will dissolve in any proportion), while the other hydrogen halides have large solubility gaps with water. Hydrogen fluoride and water also form several compounds in the solid state, most notably a 1:1 compound that does not melt until −40 °C (−40 °F), which is 44 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit) above the ...
Strontiofluorite is a halide mineral that contains the alkali earth metal strontium and the halogen fluorine, a form of strontium fluoride. It can be considered a strontium-analogue of fluorite, which contains calcium as the dominant cation instead. It is translucent and pale gray in colour. It appears as cubo-octahedral crystals up to a size ...
The van 't Hoff factor i (named after Dutch chemist Jacobus Henricus van 't Hoff) is a measure of the effect of a solute on colligative properties such as osmotic pressure, relative lowering in vapor pressure, boiling-point elevation and freezing-point depression. The van 't Hoff factor is the ratio between the actual concentration of particles ...
