The Idaho State Historical Society (ISHS) is a historical society located in the U.S. state of Idaho that preserves and promotes the state's cultural heritage. [1] The society was founded as the Historical Society of Idaho Pioneers in 1881, nine years before statehood in 1890, and was established as a state agency in 1907.

In 1963 the Christ Chapel Historical Society was founded to restore Christ Chapel and move it to the Boise State University campus, where it remains today. The chapel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and is often used for weddings today. The Historical Society continues to own the building. [2] [3]
