Harrison is a city in and county seat of Clare County in the U.S. state of Michigan. [4] The population was 2,150 at the 2020 census . The community was settled as early as 1877 and was named after William Henry Harrison . [ 5 ]
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources lists the park among thirteen state parks established in 1920 following creation of the Michigan State Parks Commission in 1919. [2] Land for the park was donated to the city of Harrison in 1900 by a lumber company, then transferred to the state in 1922. The state park was dedicated in 1927. [3]

The highway runs along the boundary between the regions of Northern and Central Michigan through forest land and crosses the Muskegon River en route to Harrison.
