Saigon is the former name of the biggest city in Vietnam - now called "Ho Chi Minh City." There's history about it being anti-communist along with the rest of South Vietnam but then it became communist when the South was overtaken by the north and became one whole communist state.

I had a whistle stop tour Starting in Hanoi, Ninh Bihn(Tam coc), Hoi an, Hue and Ho Chi Minh. My biggest regret was not having enough time to spend in Hanoi. Saigon is not without it's charm but Hanoi is a beautiful city, so much historical places to explore and the old quarter has one of the best night time atmospheres I have found on my travels.
