The Shops at Mission Viejo (originally the Mission Viejo Mall) is a shopping mall located in Mission Viejo, California. It is anchored by 2 Macy's locations, Round1, Nordstrom & Dick's Sporting Goods. The Shops at Mission Viejo is managed by Simon Malls, who owns 51% of it.
Only Buffums was open at the mall opening and the other anchors opened gradually through 1976. The western wing was demolished and expanded in the late 1980s, completing in 1994 with a Nordstrom store replacing Buffum's. [2] The J.W. Robinson's store became a Robinsons-May store in 1993, and The Broadway was converted into Macy's in 1996.
The May Company Building at Mission Valley was designed in 1958. Construction began in 1959 with completion in late 1960; the store opened with the mall on February 20, 1961. It was designed by William S. (Bill) Lewis, Jr. for LA-based AC Martin (later of Deems-Lewis), Frank L. Hope & Associates backstopped the project locally. [ 1 ]
