Sennenryu appears in the anime on the Warship Island Arc. Shenron (Shenlong) Dragon Ball: Created by Kami, the god of Earth, to grant a single wish to anyone who can gather seven spheres known as the Dragon Balls. Limited to only one wish per person (later expanded to two).

Tapion is released but expresses anger at having been freed, explaining that inside of him is half of the ferocious monster called Hirudegarn that only the box was keeping at bay.

Thanks to Dende, the Eternal Dragon of Namek, Porunga, has been summoned. Unlike Shenron, the Earth's dragon, Porunga has the power to grant any three wishes. Through King Kai, Piccolo tells Gohan to use the first wish to bring him back to life, and the second to bring him to Namek. The dragon grants these two wishes.
