The Holchu, a small cargo ship, was sighted adrift in the Indian Ocean on 7 February 1953, around 200 mi (320 km) south of the Nicobar Islands, by HMT Empire Windrush. She was later boarded by the crew of a British cargo ship, alerted by Windrush ' s radio warning. They found no trace of the crew and the Holchu was towed to Colombo.
