diane48177 letitia1973. Floaters are a common occurrence after cataract surgery, although I didn't get mine until a year afterwards. I've been dealing with mine for 4 months and they are driving me insane. My retina specialist tells me they should settle but I need to give it 6 months to a year and if they don't settle he will do a vitrectomy ...

I too got floaters after cataract surgery. Not right away though. I think cataract surgery is just traumatic to the eye and s**t can happen. At first I swatted at flies that were not there. My doctor sees nothing wrong. I see different size floaters. Most of them are like small dots, but get some bigger ones also.

Posted 5 years ago. Could be posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), which is unrelated to cataract surgery and generally isn't serious. If it's PVD, the cloud will likely go away, but might leave you with more floaters. Your ophthalmologist or a retina specialist should be able to confirm if it's PVD. It's also possible that it could be a symptom ...

Night-Hawk tom08869. For my right eye cataract surgery with a toric monfocal IOL 9 months ago the surgeon used a dropless method (actually reduced drops, to only 2drops/day for a few weeks) with an injection of antibiotic and steroid. I didn't notice any extra floaters after the surgery, I already had some very faint ones that I rarely notice now.

Floaters after cataract surgery are a fairly common problem. Many times patients will complain of dozens of black floaters that seem to appear as specks of dust, some larger and some smaller. They may have a tendency to move or drift with your vision as you look to the right and left. Others describe eye floaters after cataract surgery as ...

I had occasional floaters before surgery. They seemed fairly large, not dark, and out of focus. About 2-3 weeks after surgery I did notice a few smaller, darker, and I guess sharper particle looking things. I am 6 months out from surgery now, and I don't notice any at all.

Linda4738. I had a cataract removed in my left ( distance eye) 2 weeks ago and my distance vision is worse than before the surgery. I know the colors are brighter but I can't see to drive. It's worse in the mornings and gets a bit better in the afternoon. My doctor says there is a bit of inflammation still there and that is what's causing this.

It's been 3 weeks since I had my second eye operated on to remove the cataract. I have felt very sick since the first cataract surgery 4 weeks ago. I have nausea, constant intractable headaches and dizziness. I too am hanging on by a thread. I am almost totally incapacitated.

I had PVD happen too but it was before my cataract surgery. Yeah, floaters. they say they should calm down a lot after 6 months. I hope they're right. The flyer the optometrist gave me says risk factors are being near sighted, cataract surgery, and inflammation inside the eye. Of course it probably won't happen to young people.
