Good observations. The colour manga has gone with a few different tones for regular CoC clashes in the past, too. Blue for Luffy and Chinjao, black and red for Luffy and Doflamingo, and black and red with a purple aura for Luffy and Katakuri. Plus, of course, the purple lightning when Kaido first brained Luffy.
It was black, but Oda often changes colours to match the anime if he likes it (e.g Kuma). It's been black and red in the anime, games and movies. So it's black and red. Zoro is black and purple. Sanji is black and blue. 2.
95% of color auras are made up by Toei from a manga that doesn't have them. They're gonna be inconsistent. You're gonna see Zoro with 3 Haki colors lol. If the Haki colors hold significance, then the manga surely would specify it because the manga doesn't have colors. So far there's no mention of it.
I think the lore is that haki is actually invisible and oda is just drawing it that way so the reader knows what's going on. It might just be a way to distinguish other types of haki. Could be because of gear 2 making him hotter than normal users. Or it could be that it looks cool with his red shirt.
Luffy has a history of fighting strong haki users enel aokiji garp mihawk ect we know that haki must be acquired by fighting other people that are stronger. He also has a history of unconsciously using haki. He literally saw his arms getting chopped off. Luffy always goes gung ho straight into the enemy like when he charged into the 3 admirals.
Haoshoku Haki, also known as Hao, Conqueror's Haki, or Color of the Supreme King, is the rarest of the three types of Haki, as only one in several million people are born with this type of haki. Stated to be the manifestation of the spirit, this is an ability used to manipulate the user's own willpower and killing intention in the form of an ...
Haki is like stamina that depletes. Gear 4th primarily depends on Haki hence the timelimit mechanics. Law even pointed out that Luffy (in Gear 4th) uses a lot of Haki. What is tied to spirit is Conqueror's Haki. As noted by Rayleigh, it cannot be trained because it's based on the user's spirit.
Luffy first uses it against Wapol in this scene after a bold statement (ドン moment). The ビリビリ sfx gives it away. We see the appearance of ビリ following a ドン moment vs. Crocodile too. This is likely a milder Haoshoku. The same ビリビリ sfx occurs on Jozu when Shanks arrives on the Moby Dick. You can see ビリビリ as an ...

Haki - Colors & Shades [Theory] Something many people don't ask themselves is why Oda chose to specifically base the concept of Haki around the idea of Colors & Shades. Because of this concept, I believe Haki is actually far more complex than has been explained so far. If you remember correctly Rayleigh explicitly says that he was only ...
