The Virginia Correctional Center for Women is a female-only state prison in Virginia, USA. It is a part of the Virginia Department of Corrections. Prior to August 3, 1998, the male death row was housed at Mecklenburg Correctional Center. The execution chamber was located at the Greensville Correctional Center near Jarratt. Through 1990, the male death row was located at the Virginia State Penitentiary in Richmond, which began hosting executions on October 13, 1908.
All were convicted of capital murder; all but one were male. Between 1982 and 1990, all executions were carried out at the Virginia State Penitentiary in Richmond. After the prison closed in 1991, all subsequent executions were carried out at Greensville Correctional Center.
