The Drohman Cabin is a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2-story log cabin built about 1850 in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. The main structure was made of hand-hewn oak logs joined by German-style dovetail joints. Interior walls are wattle-and-daub, which is unusual in Wisconsin. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
Aslak installed traditional Norwegian double casement windows in the log first story. He built a 'sval' across the front of the house, just like his second house in Norway. And the diamond-shape from his house in Norway appears in the door panels of his house in Wisconsin. [3] The second story is quite different from the first.
The Holt and Balcom Logging Camp No. 1 in Lakewood, Wisconsin was built around 1880 in what was then timber along McCaslin Brook. It is probably the oldest lumber camp in Wisconsin still standing in its original location, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. [2]
