Meadowvale Village was established in 1819 by Irish immigrants from New York state led by John Beatty. [3] In the village's early years, the main industry was milling, with the mills drawing power from the Credit River. [4] Gooderham and Worts owned and operated many businesses in the village in the 1860s and 1870s, including a mill.
