Old eyes and iron pistol sights. I'm 54, and seeing the sights on my pistols is starting to get a bit of a challenge. I wear contacts, and have not wanted to do one eye near, one eye far (corrected my distance vision is 20-15, but I need 1.5 to 1.75 reading glasses for most close work). I ordered some "Hydrotac" stick on bifocal lenses.

They feature a large plain rear U-notch rear sight with tritium and a Front Tritium with a large white dot similar to an XS standard dot.
These old eyes still shoot peep sights, well, so my traditional lever guns and other rifles that are not stocked with scopes in mind now wear peeps. Peeps have put back a lot of that old iron sight fun into my shooting, but, unfortunately, peep sights are not a solution for all rifles and, of course, even of more limited use on pistols.
The 5.5 and 7" bbl. Redhawks can have the sight removed easily by depressing the spring plunger at the front of the barrel and lifting the sight up and out. The 4" bbl. Redhawks have a pinned sight. Ruger at one time had a 4 color sight set for the Redhawk with yellow, blue, orange and red fronts.
I much prefer iron sights, even on my Mini-14, and CZ .22 rifle. Scopes bother my eyes far more than shooting with irons, and those red dot sights drive me nuts, don't like them at all.... I suppose if my eye sight gets much worse I may have to change the way I shoot, but for now anyway, I'm sticking with the iron sights.....

Just picked up a Mark IV Competition and I'm having some issues with the front sight. Out of the box, the black on black sights are kinda tough on these 53 year old eyes so I gave the front sight a coat of red nail polish. Better, but then I noticed that the front sight completely covers the bull of an NRA 50 ft slow fire pistol target at just ...

IMO, if you are looking for Mepro's for a P-89, the rear will not fit the P-90. [This image will not show because it does not meet our community guidelines] Reply Like.
Carefully remove the two springs, and the reverse the procedure to install the rear sight. I tired the sight upside down and stood the springs up in it, raised all three to the pistol, installed the pin and turned it over to reinstall the adjusting screw. Nothing left but a few minutes at the range to adjust the sights.
Replace sights Ruger p345. I love my p345 but my eyes are old. What larger, more visible sights fit the p345? You might check Brownell's. They list a set of Meprolight sights for about $89.
