Add unsalted beef stock and a bay leaf and simmer until reduced to the amount you need. Remove bay leaf and thyme stem. Immersion blend (or blender and return to pan) until smooth. Add a little butter if you want it glossy. If it’s too loose you can add a little cornstarch to thicken it.
I went with a gf brown gravy packet instead, I know it's not nearly the same thing as au jus, but I made the mistake of going to the store pregnant without eating first, so I got quite cranky rather quickly and said F IT lol. Anyway, I just want to know if anyone knows of a common enough brand, and if it's even worth the headache.

Au jus- with jus Jus- a thin gravy or sauce made from meat juices Quality restaurants will use what is left when cooking a roast or other large meat. Some will also use a thinned out Demi as a substitute as making your own stocks is relatively common. Cheaper restaurants will use pre prepped or add water concoctions that are usually sodium packed.
You will be golden. You can, and should, mix it up. Don’t be afraid to try new combos. And don’t worry, some will fail and you learn. I have done the Mississippi Roast with beef and pork. I have done it with au jus, brown gravy, and onion soup mix. Someone posted spicy ranch and I can’t wait to try it.

I never used the butter. Half the packet of each au jus and ranch is enough, you can also find reduced sodium versions. If you have leftovers the fat will float to the top and you can skim it off the next day. You also don't need the liquid from the pepperoncinis. You could use fresh peppers if you want to cut more salt. Have fun!
Pot Roast Au Jus. I’m making a pot roast tonight that only calls for 1/3 cup of soy sauce for liquid. I’ve made the recipe multiple times, and while delicious, there’s a major lack of au jus. I’m wondering if I can add extra au jus (mix from a packet), or if I should use beef bouillon. Also, when should I add it?
You can probably make your own ranch powder if you do some digging for a recipe, and someone told me that regular brown gravy mix is a less salty substitute for the au jus packet. Reply Kali7272 •
3lb chuck roast 1 stick butter 4 large vidalia onions 1 Au jus packet 1 ranch dressing packet About 8 pepperoncini peppers. Do not add any liquid. Low for 10hrs. At about hr 7 I added a cup of small red radishes (lower carb option over potatoes), and they are sooooo good! 18.
