The Royal Lyceum Theatre is a 658-seat theatre in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, named after the Theatre Royal Lyceum and English Opera House, the residence at the time of legendary Shakespearean actor Henry Irving.

Dark Road is co-written by Ian Rankin and the Royal Lyceum Theatre's Artistic Director Mark Thomson. [2] On 30 April 2013, [3] it was announced that the play which would mark Rankin's play-writing debut [4] would begin previews at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh on 25 September 2013, [5] with an official opening night on 1 October, [6] booking for a limited period until 19 October.
