The UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) (French: Bureau des affaires du désarmement) is an Office of the United Nations Secretariat established in January 1998 as the Department for Disarmament Affairs, part of United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan's plan to reform the UN as presented in his report to the General Assembly in July 1997.
The list of parties to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons encompasses the states who have signed and ratified or acceded to the international agreement prohibiting or restricting the use of certain conventional weapons which may be deemed to be excessively injurious or have indiscriminate effects.
As such, UNODA keeps an updated roster of qualified experts, experts consultants, and analytical laboratories that may be called upon to participate in or advise UNSGM investigations. [1] As of 2022, the UNSGM roster includes approximately 500 qualified experts, 40 expert consultants, and 80 analytical laboratories. [ 1 ]
