Set during the mid-1990s, Rokuro "Rock" Okajima is a 25-year-old Japanese salaryman working for Asahi Industries in Tokyo. One day, he is taken hostage by the crew of the Elco-type PT boat Black Lagoon, the Lagoon Company, a group of pirate mercenaries dedicated to smuggling goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia.
While on a business trip at sea for his company, Rokuro Okajima is abducted by the members of the Lagoon Company: Dutch, Revy, and Benny.After obtaining a confidential disc for their client, Balalaika, the head of Hotel Moscow and a part of the Russian Mafia, Revy takes Rokuro as a hostage onto their ship, the Black Lagoon, to hold for ransom.
Black Lagoon (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rei Hiroe. It has been published in Shogakukan's seinen manga magazine Monthly Sunday Gene-X since April 2002, with its chapters collected in 13 tankÅbon volumes as of December 2023. In North America, the manga is licensed for English release by Viz Media.
