Yatesville Lake State Park in Kentucky is a recreational facility in the eastern part of the commonwealth, close to the town of Louisa, Kentucky in Lawrence County. The park occupies a peninsula on Yatesville Lake , an impoundment of Blaine Creek that covers 2,300 acres (930 ha), has three islands, and averages 40 feet in depth. [ 2 ]
The serpentine reservoir it creates, Yatesville Lake, has a normal water surface of 3.5 square miles, a maximum capacity of 83,300 acre-feet, and a normal capacity of 63,000 acre-feet. [3] The maximum depth of the lake is 60 feet with an average mean depth of 17.7 feet. The shoreline measures 93.9 miles at summer pool level.
The park itself encompasses 29 acres (12 ha), while the park's main feature, Carr Creek Lake, covers 750 acres (300 ha). [1] The park contains a 39-site campground, a full-service marina with snack bar, boat rental service, and a beach. The beach is 480 feet (150 m) long, making it the longest beach in the Kentucky park system. [2]

Barren River Lake is a 10,100 acres (41 km 2), reservoir in Kentucky created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1964 by impounding the Barren River. The lake occupies parts of Allen, Barren, and Monroe counties. The Barren River Lake Dam is an earthen dam, 146 feet (45 m) high and 3,970 feet (1,210 m) long at its crest. [2]
