State Highway 60 (SH 60) is a state route running from Wallis to Matagorda, Texas. The route was designated on August 21, 1923, from Wharton to Matagorda, previously numbered SH 12C . [ 2 ] On June 8, 1925, SH 60 was extended north to East Bernard .
The first settlement in the area was known as Floyd's Lane which was on a trail that ran from a Colorado River crossing on the west to a San Bernard River crossing on the east. A trail that ran beside Caney Creek connected the area to Wharton. Boling was founded in 1900 when the New York, Texas & Mexican Railroad built a line through the area.
Its western boundary is the San Bernard River, the Fort Bend/Wharton County line.
