Monrovia High School is the only grades 9–12 comprehensive high school in the Monrovia Unified School District. Established in 1893, the campus is located in an environment of neo-Spanish architecture, green lawns, hundred-year-old oak trees, and is nestled against the San Gabriel Mountains .

In 2014 Monrovia joined the Indiana Crossroads conference after previously being in the West Central conference. In 2015 the Bulldogs won the IHSAA football 2A Championship. Monrovia's gymnasium is named after legendary Indiana basketball coach and Monrovia alumni, Branch McCracken. [2] [3]
The school was forced to close down again in 1996 due to the April war in Monrovia, when looting again made away with many school materials. A tutorial program was run in August 1997 and regular classes resumed for the 1997–1998 academic year. In December 1997, Mrs. Gertrude Findley was appointed as Principal.
As of 2020, Monterey High school serves 1,306 students in grade levels 9 through 12. The mathematical proficiency level is 38%, which is lower than California's average of 39%. However, the literacy rate is 65%, which rises above the state average of 50%. MHS ranks among the top 30 schools in the state of California.
