James Earl Rudder (May 6, 1910 – March 23, 1970) was a United States Army major general. As a lieutenant colonel, he commanded the historic Pointe du Hoc battle during the Invasion of Normandy . He also commanded the US troops at the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest , and led a series of delaying actions and ambushes during the Battle of the Bulge.
James Rudder eventually became a major general and President of Texas A&M. Major Sullivan was given the Distinguished Service Cross for the breakout at Omaha Beach, the relief of Pointe du Hoc and the successful assault on the Maisy Batteries. Max Schneider became a respected combat leader and eventually became a full colonel.
The James Earl Rudder State Office Building is a historic office building in downtown Austin, Texas, USA. Built in 1918, the five-story structure features 18-foot ceilings and terrazzo and marble flooring.
Most recently, LTG Stultz was presented the Major General James Earl Rudder Medal by the Association of the United States Army in recognition of his outstanding support for the U.S. Army Reserve.
