Radio Aire was an Independent Local Radio station, serving Leeds and West Yorkshire. The station was merged and relaunched as Greatest Hits Radio West Yorkshire , as part of a rebrand, on 1 September 2020.
On 1 September 2020, it began to broadcast on 96.3 FM, replacing Radio Aire and the Leeds medium wave transmitter was later switched off. [4] Ridings FM and Pulse 2 were closed and replaced with Greatest Hits Radio West Yorkshire on the same day, meaning the station was also made available on 106.8 FM and Pulse 2's DAB and Medium Wave frequencies.
The Metro Radio Group itself was bought out by EMAP in 1996 and ownership rules at the time meant that as they already owned neighbouring Radio Aire in Leeds something had to be sold on, and that was The Pulse and its sister station Classic Gold which were purchased in a management buyout from senior staff and ex-Metro Group executives.

On 2 January 1984, he joined Radio Aire in Leeds where he initially hosted the early breakfast show, but was quickly moved to present the breakfast show within a few months.
