Jobs was named after William Job (1843–1931) who was once one of the most prominent coal company operators in the Hocking Valley. It had several mines, a row of houses, a school and a post office was established in 1890, and remained in operation until 1924. [2] The train station was on the Brush Fork Branch of the Hocking Valley Railway.
In 1895 the Valley Railway became the Cleveland, Terminal and Valley Railway. In 1915 the line was absorbed into the Baltimore and Ohio system. Although many small independent lines from this era were absorbed into larger lines and acquired parallel tracks, the Valley Railway retains single track alignment and has been well preserved.
Belfast was founded in 1834, and named after Belfast, in Northern Ireland. [2] The post office was first established under the name Bell [2] in 1845, the name was changed to Belfast in 1910, and the post office closed in 1944. [3]
