P. J. Hoffmaster State Park is a public recreation area on the shores of Lake Michigan located five miles north of Grand Haven at the southwest corner of Norton Shores, in Muskegon County, and the northwest corner of Spring Lake Township, in Ottawa County, in the U.S. state of Michigan.
The city is in southwestern Muskegon County, bordered to the west by Lake Michigan and to the south by Ottawa County. The cities of Muskegon, Roosevelt Park, and Muskegon border Norton Shores to the north. Norton Shores has a total area of 24.6 square miles (64 km 2), of which 1.4 square miles (3.63 km 2), or 5.6%, are water. [1]
On the south side of Mona Lake is Norton Shores' Ross Park, which is a 43-acre (17 ha) park located on Randall Road. [2] Ross Park features a sandy beach area with playground equipment, a picnic area, a paved walkway and a volleyball area. There is also a boat parking area for those who want to come ashore. [2]
