A throttle position sensor (TPS) is a sensor used to monitor the throttle body valve position for the ECU of an engine. The sensor is usually located on the butterfly spindle/shaft, so that it can directly monitor the position of the throttle. More advanced forms of the sensor are also used.
Wigwag (more formally, aerial telegraphy) is an historical form of flag signaling that passes messages by waving a single flag. It differs from flag semaphore in that it uses one flag rather than two, and the symbols for each letter are represented by the motion of the flag rather than its position.
The Magnetic Signal Company was an American company based in Los Angeles, California, focused on railway signalling. The company was the manufacturer of the ubiquitous "Magnetic Flagman" wigwag railroad crossing (or level crossing) signal, seen all over California and the western states.
Albert Cameron Hunt (3 April 1857 – 2 October 1915) was an American electrician who invented the wigwag, a grade crossing signal used in transportation. [1] Hunt was a mechanical engineer from Southern California. He invented the wigwag in the early 1900s out of the necessity for a safer railroad grade crossing.
Wigwag is a nickname for a type of railroad grade crossing signal once common in North America, referring to its pendulum-like motion that signaled a train's approach. The device is generally credited to Albert Hunt , a mechanical engineer at Southern California 's Pacific Electric (PE) interurban streetcar railroad, who invented it in 1909 for ...
Potentiometric solid state gas sensors have been generally classified into three broad groups.. Type I sensors have an electrolyte containing mobile ions of the chemical species in the gas phase that it is monitoring.

There are two primary types of Throttle Position Sensor (TPS): a potentiometer or a non-contact sensor Hall Effect sensor (magnetic device). A potentiometer is a satisfactory way for non-critical applications such as volume control on a radio. However, these devices which are mechanical in nature can wear, get contaminated by dirt and dust and ...
