There were a total number of eighteen participating nations, with three qualifying heats and the final held on Sunday, August 22, 1993. The current world record for the event was set in the final.
The men's 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships took place on 3 March 2024. The winning margin was 0.06 seconds which was the first time the men's 4x400 metres was won by less than a tenth of a second at these championships.
At the final hand-off it was Spain, followed by Belgium and Great Britain. Spain's Bernat Erta quickly opened up a sizeable lead on the Belgium's veteran Kevin Borlée , but, in an exact replay of the events from three years ago at the 2019 European Indoor Championships in Glasgow, was overtaken by the more experienced Belgian with 100m to go.
