Sterling is an unincorporated community in northwest Howell County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] The community is located adjacent to the railroad just east of U.S. Route 63 , approximately one mile south of the county line.
In 1843, county residents voted to move the county seat again, this time to the larger city of Hermann, located at the Missouri River.
