The new San Marcos High School opened in August 2007, and all the elementary schools in the district were completed and opened by Fall of 2009. In 2011, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. [2] In May, 2013, San Marcos Consolidated ISD voters approved another $77 million in bonds.
San Marcos High School was originally built on the block of Comanche and Hutchison. In 1939 the Auditorium-Laboratory School Building was completed by the college and all public school students, kindergarten through 6th grade, were housed there. By 1941 all the public school students were located on the college campus.
San Marcos High School had a graduation rate of 99% for the Class of 2020. The Academic Performance Index was an annual measure of the academic performance and progress of schools in California. Founded as Sierra Madre Academy, the school was renamed St. Joseph Academy in September 2008, when it moved to its new, full-sized campus.
