The football tournament was held in Algiers, Algeria between 10–23 July 2007 as part of the 2007 All-Africa Games. The tournament was age-restricted and open to men's under-23 national teams.

The 2007 All-Africa Games football tournament was held in Algiers, Algeria between 10–23 July 2007 as part of the 2007 All-Africa Games and featured both a men's and women's African Games football tournament. [1] The men's tournament featured eight (8) teams, the women's six (6).
The 3rd All-Africa Games (Arabic: الألعاب الأفريقية الثالثة; French: 3e Jeux africains), alson known as Algiers 1978 (الجزائر 1978) was a multi-sport event played from 13 to 28 July 1978, in Algiers, Algeria. 45 countries from 49 independent African countries participated in twelve sports.
In the football tournament of the 1983 Mediterranean Games in El Jadida, Morocco, Tunisia beat Algeria 3–2. In 1985, during the final round of the 1986 FIFA World Cup qualification , Algeria beat Tunisia 7–1 on aggregate, winning 4–1 in the first leg and 3–0 in the second leg, to qualify for the World Cup for the second time.
