How to Measure Window Positions. Window size is always specified as height x width regardless of orientation. Window positions are always measured by their distance from the left edge of the envelope and the distance from the bottom (the flap is the "top" of the envelope).
Unlike other kinds of envelopes, window envelopes are usually only available in a few different sizes. The most common size is 5 3/4″ x 8″. This size allows it to fit inside a standard A10 envelope when used for business mailings. You can also find window envelopes available in #10 or #9 sizes.
Window Envelope. For all letter-size mail in window envelopes, every character in the delivery address, including any Intelligent Mail barcode, marking, or endorsement, must be completely visible through the window throughout the full range of movement of the insert bearing the delivery address.
