Hi guys, recently I purchased a new Nighthawk Router, but in order to use it, we need to disable the bridge mode function on the Xfinity XFI router/modem which will disable the router capabilities on the device. However, we don’t know our login for the 10.0.0.1 admin tool.
Thanks all for the quick replies. My desktop is connected directly to the Xfi gateway ethernet port. Tried unplug Xfi power cable and pin reset. Both resulted with only able to reach 192.168.100.1 - Xfinity Admin. But without the proper password I can't revert the setting to no Bridge. And neither will Xfi app allows me to do it.
admin mod Is something other than 192.168.x.x a better choice for home routers Assuming there are less than 255 different devices on one's home network, is there any benefit to setting up one's home router with a private IP scheme other than 192.168.x.x like perhaps 10.x.x.x or 172.16.x.x?
By default Xfinity configures DHCP to assign addresses from .2 to .253. The remaining adresses: .1 is for the gateway itself, and .0, .254 and .255 are already reserved for other purposes, such as multicast and broadcast. Thus Xfinity left no addresses in the default range available for static IP addresses.
I moved and have to use a temporary Xfinity modem until the one I ordered comes in (SurfBoard SB6121). The browser access to this temporary modem is not 192.168.1.1 (like my previous modem) and instead it is 10.0.0.1.
