On the Pontiac forum they seem to lessen the ex popping by adjusting the Decel open IAC to some where between -10 and -30. I think one of my Fitech call's I was given the same info of setting it to -30 Called Tech support and Bryce said to play around with fuel cut, no specific numbers but to raise MAP value that fuel cut returns injection.
My Christmas gift to myself was the Go Street EFI 400 (w/Fuel Command Center) installed on my 69 Chevelle stock 396/402. So far so good, but its been too freaking cold here on the East coast to let the system or me learn much. The hardest part was to figure out where to put the Fuel Command Center and fuel line plumbing.
I know there's a bit of confusion out there about what type of distributor can be used with FiTech Go EFI Self-Tuning Fuel Injection Systems. If you ask FiTech tech support, they'll be a little vague and mention any 12v, 2-wire, magnetic pickup, rotor phasable distributor should work. Here I'll walk through the distributor I used (MSD Street ...
Only spare I ever carried when using FiTech EFI is a fuel pump. I use a Walbro inline fuel pump in a return style fuel setup. It has been a trouble free EFI fuel pump since 2016.
Did a fresh reset and set all parameters as per fitech tech support +30% CID and still has no hope of idling. Screwed the butterfly adjustment in reset tps to 0% and it would rev high and as it was coming down would gurgle and die out spitting fuel from the fitech (caught on fire 2 times) all while on the phone with fitech.
re: FiTech EFI & Fuel Command Center Review & Install w/pics Thanks. Spent 3 hours after work and made some progress.
The FiTech has a Fault Rev Limit setting in the Rev Limit Decel Cut menu of the Pro tuning section. You can use to shut the fuel injection off before the motor explodes. It is separate from the Rev Limit RPM setting. I doubt that is the problem, because the default is quite high, but you might want to check it.
FITech Fuel Injection 30002, FiTech Go EFI 4 - 600 HP Throttle Body Systems | FITech Fuel Injection and the fuel system I used... FiTech Go EFI System Fuel Command Center | FITech Fuel Injection Fuel system claims to support up to 800HP. I know my car makes an "honest" 550hp, (has been 11.31@117 @4200# race weight, w/QFT carb).
With the Quick Fuel carburetor I had previously, this worked very well. At cruising speeds, the lockup would stay engaged unless I let off the throttle completely, at which point the converter would unlock as desired. With the FiTech, at 50-60 MPH, if I'm on a level surface, the converter unlocks due to insufficient throttle opening.
A little over a year ago I was involved in the installation of a basic 400 hp fitech setup on a stock '72 c10 with a 350. A while after we got the truck running, it started idling high. I diagnosed the problem as likely being the iac motor, and fitech sent a new one. The problem went away for several months, but now it's back.
