Springfield School District (SSD) is a midsized, suburban, (K–12) public school district located in Springfield Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It also serves the neighboring Morton Borough. The district is one of the 500 public school districts of Pennsylvania. Springfield School District encompasses 7 square miles (18 km 2).
There will be a new high school, with fewer than 250,000 square feet (23,000 m 2) of space. The district began planning for it circa 2009. [4] In 2015 the school board voted to build a new facility, with eight in favor and one, Bruce Lord, against. The former baseball field was chosen as the site of the new building. [5] Construction began in 2018.
Detail of the datestone. The Springfield School is a three-story brick building in the Italianate style. The architect is not known for certain but has been speculated to be Thomas D. Evans (1844–1903), [16] the architect of the Samuel F. B. Morse School on the South Side, based on the similarity between the two buildings.

The school has also been a member of the Suburban One League since 1969, participating in the American Conference. From 1925 to 1969, Springfield played in the Bux-Mont league. Springfield briefly left Suburban One in the 2010-2011 school year for the Bicentennial League, but returned to Suburban One for the 2012-2013 school year.
