I think it was about 5-6 years ago when I was really into Magic: The Gathering Arena (MTGA). I used to start my day at work by watching Merchant and AliasV's videos while having my coffee. I would spend my lunch breaks playing 2-3 matches.

As a new player who played some paper mtg years back and just recently returned to Arena and a bit of MTGO now that digital magic is a real thing. I have some thoughts on why despite the smaller collection of cards and the inexcusable historic format Arena is ultimately better : User-Interface / Playing the game
I know Arena is a terrible format to try the game on, but god almighty. Magic tries way too hard to be complicated and is far too vague on card effects and how the game works. Idk how it was when it started, but Yugioh just makes so much more sense. I made a new Red-Eyes deck and I’m having way more fun now that I’m back on Master Duel.

Best of 3 fixes A LOT of magic's blind spots and why it was put into the rules from the beginning. Best of 1 brings in all the crap that Hearthstone was infected by.. and now with the new format we are getting random card nonsense which really took Hearthstone in the tank.
You'll have to do things like do all your quests every day and do the midweek magic events for the rewards. I would create 1-2 decks that are budget on wildcards and play them alot . Forget about playing any fun jank, or even too heavy on wildcards (ex 3+ color decks with rare heavy mana bases)
