The Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) is a high school athletic conference located in northwest Ohio, with member schools stretched across Lucas, Williams, and Wood counties. It was formed in 1988, [1] and the league sponsors football, cross country, volleyball, golf, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track & field.
The original proposed name for the district was 'Burlington' (BURbank, SterLING, and CresTON), but residents preferred the acronym for "Northern Wayne" County. They chose the nickname 'Bobcats.' [2] In 1954, the first official football season began for the Wayne County Athletic League with Dalton, Doylestown, and Rittman playing right away.
The Northern 10 conference was founded in 2012 by ten schools located in north-central Ohio. Six of these schools (Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Crestline, Riverdale, and Wynford) came from the North Central Conference, three (Carey, Mohawk, and Seneca East) came from the Midland Athletic League, and one came from the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.
