The Magnolia Park Town Center was originally built as the Greenville Mall, in planning as early as 1974 when Montgomery Ward was secured as its first anchor. [1] In 1976, J. B. White was secured as a second anchor, along with the mall as a whole being announced with a planned 78 stores. [1]
Macomb Mall was developed in 1964 by the Schostak Brothers of Detroit, Michigan. The mall opened with Sears, Crowley's, and Kresge as its anchor stores. [1] [2] The next year, a two-screen movie theater opened near Sears. [3] An expansion completed in 1986 added a third anchor store, MainStreet (sold to Kohl's in 1989) and over 40 new stores. [4]
The company built a new store in Charlotte in 1924, which remained the only Ivey's store until 1935. [9] Ivey's opened a store in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1935, and in Asheville, North Carolina, in 1937. [10] Ivey's became a publicly-traded corporation in the 1940s.
