Here was a hotel kept by Mr. Averill; a store kept in turn by Mr. Ballard, Holcomb & Weber, and Edward Cheeseman; a 12-forge blacksmith shop and auger factory run by Mr. Vibber; and a tannery operated by John Williams.
Grooms Tavern Complex is a historic tavern located at Grooms Corners in Saratoga County, New York. The complex consists of the tavern, a wagon and blacksmith shop, and a frame privy . The tavern building was built about 1825 and is a 2-story, timber-framed, gable-roofed building in a vernacular Federal style.
It was a full season passenger station until the New York Central purchased the U&D in 1932. This was when it became a summer-only station, with it being a flagstop in the other seasons. If a passenger were to get picked up at the station in another season, the business and income would be handled by the station agent at Tannersville.
Guide Board Corners is accessible by several different roads leading from other parts of the town. The most major of these is Central Chapel Road (part of County Route 115), which runs from north to south through the center of Guide Board Corners. This road provides access to Brooktondale and Slaterville, which are near New York State Route 79.
All four corners are within the boundaries of these 5.7 acres (2.3 ha). On the lots are six buildings. All are contributing wood frame structures built in the 19th century. They include two houses, two stores, a church and a seminary. A small park at the northeastern corner was the site of a hotel which burned down in the 1920s. [2]

The Inn was used not just as a travelers rest with bar and dining but as a meeting place for the town and a post office. Its business revived in the days of automobile tourism in the 1920s in that capacity.
