Bayou Chene was a community settled in the 1830s, located approximately 40 miles north of Morgan City.The U.S. post office was established there in 1858. The settlers there ran a church, a school, a merchandise store and the post office, which were all located on the bayou.

Coteau Holmes is an unincorporated community in St. Martin Parish, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. [1] LA 679 passes through the community. The nearest major town is Loreauville. It is part of the Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The current mayor is Matthew Broussard and the current sheriff is Robert "Blue" Broussard.
