Wexford County Council had previously been based in an aging facility in Hill Street. [1] The new building, which was designed by Robin Lee Architecture, cost over €50 million to build. [2] It was officially opened by Brendan Howlin, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, in 2011. [3] [4] It received a Civic Trust Award in 2012. [5]
Connick was elected to New Ross Town Council in 1999 and re-elected in 2004. He was elected to Wexford County Council in 2004. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 2007 general election – receiving 9,826 first preference votes. He was the first person from New Ross to be elected as a TD.
An election to all 34 seats on Wexford County Council was held on 7 June 2024 as part of the 2024 Irish local elections. [1] County Wexford is divided into 6 local electoral areas (LEAs) to elect councillors for a five-year term of office on the electoral system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV).
