The Richmond Hill Historical Society was founded in 1973. [7] The society was dedicated to preserving the history of Richmond Hill and raising awareness of the town's history. Their first action was to restore a 150-year-old house, known as the Burr House. As the 1970s went on, the population growth of Richmond Hill remained large.
Fortinos slogan is "Your Supermarket with a Heart". Fortinos became a part of Loblaw Companies Limited in 1988, but still without the No Name Brand (yellow packages) products. During the 1990s, Fortinos focused on the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, opening stores in Toronto, North York, Etobicoke, Rexdale, Woodbridge, and Markham.
Richmond Hill annexed a second parcel of land in 1956, 35 acres (140,000 m 2) of Vaughan Township covering Richmond Heights. [40] In September 1956, the Ontario Municipal Board approved its elevation to Town status, effective January 1, 1957. [41] 1957 also saw the opening of Richmond Hill's first radio station, CJRH.

Richmond Hill City Council is the governing body for the Canadian city of Richmond Hill, Ontario. Council serves a four-year term, after which a new council is elected by qualified electors in Richmond Hill. [1] Richmond Hill City Council consists of a Mayor, six Ward Councillors and two Regional and Local Councillors.
The society was disbanded in 1865. The society was reformed in 1874 as the Richmond Hill and Yonge Street Agricultural Society. [1] The last spring fair in Richmond Hill was held in 1996. [3] By this point, Richmond Hill was suburban and no longer had enough agriculture in the community to support a fair.
