Jefferson is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States, on the north side (referred to as the "East Bank") of the Mississippi River. Jefferson is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner metropolitan statistical area. The population was 11,193 at the 2010 census, [3] and 10,533 in 2020.
With a population of 143,507 in 2020, [2] Metairie is the largest community in Jefferson Parish and was (as of 2010) the fifth-largest CDP in the United States. [3] It is an unincorporated area that (as of 2020) would have been Louisiana's fourth-largest city behind Shreveport if incorporated.
The district included some or all of the following parishes: Washington, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Jefferson, Orleans and St. Charles. It also included the cities of Hammond and Slidell and most of the western suburbs of New Orleans , including Metairie and Kenner , along with a small portion of the city itself.
