The town of North Branch sits on the north branch of the Flint River which flows through the township and is the principal waterway. The main thoroughfare is Huron Street. Two major fires mark the history of North Branch. The Great Michigan Fire in 1871 and the Thumb Fire in 1881 destroyed many parts of the town.
The Spokane Public Library - North Monroe Branch is a historic building in the Emerson/Garfield neighborhood of Spokane, Washington. It was designed by Albert Held, and built in 1914 with $17,500 from Andrew Carnegie. [2] It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 3, 1982. [1]
The downtown library was replaced in 1963 with a branch in the Comstock Building, a former Sears Roebuck department store. [3] A bond issue passed by voters in 1990 enabled the library system to replace all four of its locations, including the Comstock branch. The current five-branch system and downtown library were all completed by 1998. [3]
