In May 2006, Continental Airlines' subsidiary Continental Express began Moncton's only nonstop service to the United States with once-daily (sometimes twice daily) flights to Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, near New York City. However, the service between Moncton and Newark was ended on September 19, 2014.

On December 28, 2024, a De Havilland Dash 8-400, with registration C-GPNA operating for Air Canada Express as flight 2259, from St. John's International Airport to Halifax Stanfield International Airport, experienced a gear collapse on the number 1 engine side while landing on runway 23. All 77 occupants were safely evacuated to a nearby hangar.
