The Schertz and Cibolo School Districts combined in the 1930s. On April 24, 1961, the school system became an independent school district. [1] In 1966, the community served by the Lower Valley School voted to consolidate with the Schertz-Cibolo system. [8] In 1967, Universal City was added to the name. [1]
In 1991 Plano ISD began a Chinese bilingual program for preschool and kindergarten students developed by Donna Lam. It is one of two Chinese bilingual programs in the State of Texas, along with the one established by the Austin Independent School District. It was established after Chinese professionals began to settle Plano. [25]
In 1961 the school district was established and in 1967 Universal City was annexed into the district, formally becoming SCUC ISD. A decision was made to rename the school, however all the band jackets and other uniforms featured the letters SC for "Schertz-Cibolo," and it would have proved cost prohibitive to change it.
