The University of Alberta (also known as U of A or UAlberta, French: Université de l'Alberta) is a public research university located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.It was founded in 1908 by Alexander Cameron Rutherford, [8] the first premier of Alberta, and Henry Marshall Tory, [9] the university's first president.
In 2003, she joined the University of Alberta as a full professor. From 2003 to 2008, Buriak was on the Board of Reviewing Editors (BoRE) at Science (handling 7-10 papers per week). She was an associate editor at ACS Nano from 2009 to 2013 (handling >500 papers per year).
Tenured in 2009, she then joined the faculty of New York University as an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Biomedical Chemistry Institute. She was promoted to Professor in 2016. In 2019, Mahal became the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Glycomics at the University of Alberta. [ 11 ]
